Gareth Roberts - Short Biography

Gareth founded Virtuate, leads the team and is responsible for its ongoing strategies. He has a positive "make it happen" attitude that, along with a broad range of technical and business skills make him a highly effective resource to businesses.

With more than 14 years experience with Oracle technology, Gareth has vast knowledge of Oracle products and is seen as a respected member and contributor in the Oracle world. He is considered by some a "guru" of Oracle technology and development. Gareth has recently taken a stronger interest in community activities and is one of the committee members for the New Zealand Oracle Users Group (NZOUG), with active involvement in the group.

Gareth's primary focus is quality products and services and delivering only the best to his clients. Gareth is a perfectionist and sets a high standard for his team of staff and consultants who work along side him. He remains hands on in order to keep up to play with the fast changing software and internet worlds.

After graduating from Victoria University of Wellington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Gareth kicked off his consulting career specialising in Oracle products with Oracle New Zealand. He jokes that he has an affinity to reading manuals now as no one at Oracle realized he was starting on the day he did, so his first week was spent with an Oracle SQL*Plus and Database Administration manual. Since then he has had a variety of roles relating to the Oracle eBusiness Suite both globally and locally for blue chip multinational companies as well as NZ local governments working together with different Oracle partners. His career has taken him to different parts of the world; the UK, US, Europe and Asia where his contributions have been greatly acknowledged by his clients and colleagues.

Gareth is married with 2 young children and has passions for property and football - the round not oval kind, travelling and of course all things technical. Gareth is always keen for a challenge on the PS2 or for those a little older at heart - arcade games.
